Hi one and all, in the post the other day I received the Nikon Pro magazine, yet I'm not sure why? Any ideas? And if anybody was wondering, it is a bloody amazing magazine, although the price tag of €10.00 seems a bit steep :O hope I'm not paying that though :S

Many Thanks

Daniel

You get it free if you are a registered Nikon pro.

Aah that makes sense, thanks AWP, it is a very nice magazine, but worth its steep price tag? im not sure.

Daniel

worth it if you get it free :) - high quality printing - small circulation = high cost.

Good point, very good photos, i especially love the one of the fish being caught, amazing photo. The timing :O

cool magazine but mostly a D3s and 600 f4 ad lol.... that's how they justify it... :P

Im registered and get sod all. Thanks Nikon

It depends on what you have registered. To get Nikon Professional User status you need to register 2 pro bodies and 3 pro lenses I think. There is a level below that as well but I can't remember what it was called.

Ah noo, that is the level up form NPU, NPU just needs a pro body and a pro lens :)

I can't remember but I've only been getting the Nikon pro magazine since I added the D700 and D300 last summer giving me 3 pro bodies plus the extra
lenses.

I think you need 6 items from their list of qualifying items, and two of those need to be bodies from that list.

No, wait never mind, that's Nikon Pro Services.

For Nikon Pro User you only need 2 items from the list, and one must be a body.

And you need to actually register your serial numbers through the site. :)

I have 2 Pro Bodies and 3 Pro Lenses. I'll need to get onto Nikon.

Just go to the web site and log in then register them all then then send you an email which gives you a link to click on and then apply from there. You get quicker repairs and a discount on training amongst other things.

Latest one is as dull as dishwater though....................:shake:

Just rang Nikon re the ERR message on my D700 and found out about all this.

NPU - Nikon Professional User gets you this magazine and is the lower end 'club' so to speak.

The one I though it was is

NPS, this is the higher tier scheme where you must have 2 or possibly 3 pro bodies, 3 pro lenses etc etc and which gives you the quicker repair turn round etc etc.

For NPS, they don't just count bodies and lenses as part of your "Pro" kit either. The SB-80DX/SB-800/SB-900 are also on that list as qualifying items.

But, NPS also requires that your primary income be from photography, so not really that available to many that are in NPU, regardless of how much gear they may have.

Yes, they are just sorting out NPS for me now. I use one of my own Nikon bodies in my day job and photography is a part time one so they are happy with that.
