Nikon repair prices/timescales

Hi just dropped my D7000 and have damaged the lcd display. The lcd seems to be okay but the glass front has a crack in the corner.

Anyone done something similar and have an idea of repair costs and how long it would take to have it repaired. All seems to be working okay.
 
I don't know how much it'll be for a screen repair, but Nikon's labour charges aren't cheap!

Their turnaround is actually pretty impressive though, it took about 5 days for my estimate, and once I'd paid, it only took a week or so for the repair.

If it's only the LCD you could take a stab at it yourself, but I'm sure it's easier said than done! It's the sort of thing I'd end up starting and then not being able to actually fix.....!
 
Its not that bad and I am considering not bothering to have it repaired as it's just a small crack in the top left hand corner. I don't think the actual display is effected as the screen seems to have glass over although it's very annoying.

Just got some good news my lcd is fine it is just the plastic stuck down cover that has a crack in it and apparently it's a fairly inexpensive repair or simply to complete yourself. This is a link to a youtube video showing how to do these yourself.

Whilst I agree that their charges can be excessive I've just has a repaired D40 returned from Nikon a grand total of 24 days after giving them the go-ahead to repair it. That doesn't compare well with the 7-10 days I was quoted at the time of giving them my credit card details :thumbsdown:

A snotty-gram is on its way to the head of repairs at Nikon.
 
I have replaced the LCD cover on a 50D and it was easy to do but scary!

I used a hairdryer to soften the adhesive under the lcd and a sucker on the lcd to help lift it off with a craft knife too.

Cleaned it all up and replaced the LCD cover. Total cost £15!!
