Anybody replaced the rubber grips on the front of their Nikon?

I have a D200 that could do with a make over partly because I intend to sell it at some point. My D700 could maybe do with a spruce up as well soon. The rubbers that need replacing on the D200 are the front two, i.e the one around the remote terminals and the one where you grip the camera.

I've read a few online guides and I'm fairly comfortable with the process.

What I would like to know though is whether it's worth buying from Nikon themselves or whether the ebay ones are fine. It would cost me around £45 for the two parts from Nikon vs. about £17 on ebay but the ebay set comes with a new lower rubber as well.

What I'm concerned about is whether the ebay ones will fit nicely and whether or not the adhesive will be up to the job.
 
Its alway a hard one,but the Nikon should fit prefectly,if you buy the e.bay ones and they look out of place compared to the rest of rubber on the body,or the fits not as good,£17 down the drain,plus you still got pay £45 for the Nikon ones :)
 
The rubbers on my D700 could do with replacing because they are coming a bit loose at the edges so I’d be interested in the answer to this one. I e-mailed Fixation for a quote a couple of months ago and never received a reply. Maybe it’s too small a job for them to be bothered with. For now I’ve just used a touch of No More Nails to keep the edges down and it’s doing the job nicely. I considered using actually nails but was advised against it, apparently you only use nails on a Canon body ;-)

Cheers. The fit will be critical as will the supplied adhesive. The ones that I have been looking at claim to be 'original' but I would be much more comfortable if they were described as 'genuine Nikon'. I've emailed the seller with an enquiry, will see if they reply. This is the item in question. Feedback seems good, I'm tempted to take a punt but will await a reply first.

Brave man using no more nails. I used super glue as a temporary fix and I know it'll be a nightmare to get off again when I eventually carry out a proper fix. Removing all the old adhesive is and cleaning up the surfaces is likely to be quite important in effecting a decent repair I'd imagine.

The ebay seller says they're "without original packaging" - which sounds a bit iffy to me. You could ask him what the part numbers are - if they're genuine Nikon parts he should know the numbers.
