Hey all, been researching flashgun's again for my D3100 and came across the SB-25. Anyone know if this would work fully automatically with the Nikon D3100? And if so, is it a good flash?
i-TTL / E-TTL
The Nikon SB-25 is a pre-digital flash, so there is no modern i-TTL mode available. It has TTL, but this is the old analog version which is useless with modern digital cameras. There is also an auto mode which some photographers like to use even today, although certainly not in the strobist scenario but rather on camera.
wont work with i-ttl ,,your looking at sb 400/600/800/900 for digital really
As donutagain says - don't buy it if you want to be able to point & shoot with a flash and have the flashgun do all the calculations for you.
The SB-25 is an old flash unit (came out in 1992) - fine if you're using an old film camera, but not very good on modern digital cameras. Have a look at the SB-400 for a cheaper modern flashgun.
