Hi

Any body got any thought have D300 with SB800 looking at the new SB900 is it worth upgrading ?:)

I have both and personally find the SB900 easier to use, (but then I am an idiot) The SB 900 has a battery level indicator which is very useful. It realy depends on what you would get for your SB800. Mint ones on Ebay go for around £230, so another £70 to get the SB900.

I know this cos I'm thinking about doing the same, so I'll have two 900's :)

I have got a d300 and both the sb800 and the sb900, I always take the sb900 out the bag first, I have got nothing against the sb800 it is purely that the sb900 is easier to use.

SB900 doesn't have a battery gauge... thats a temp gauge...

SB900 pros... better range, optional shaping of light, doesn't need the extra 5th battery pack thing the SB800 does.

SB900 cons... its very large, the twiddly dial thing makes a mark on your forehead

:D

I was experimenting yesterday with resting the lens on my left elbow (with my left hand over my right shoulder) and then bracing the camera by pushing the flash gun up against my head . After 10 minutes, I'd discoverd that it worked, but made me look a total tit and I also earned an extra 'birth mark' on my forehead, which lasted about another 10 minutes .

I only have an SB900, so I can't add much else to the discussion, sorry :(!
