Nikon Service Cost?

Since my near miss when my D700 tipped on the tripod and hit off some rocks I suspect that my left hand AF might be very slightly off. I've yet to properly test, but I'm pretty sure there's a little front focus on that side.

Nikon won't quote without sending the camera in, so I was just wondering if anyone had a rough idea of how much Nikon charge for testing and fixing focus?

I know it'll vary a bit, but even if I could get a ballpark figure it would be a help!
 
I think some authorised repair shops will give pro users a quote, IIRC correctly Fixation did... Price will depend on parts.
 
Nikon generally don't charge for estimates. Price to fix will depend on what they need to do - IIRC they are about £75 an hour and Fixation are similar.

They are both closed until the new year ;)

I spoke to Nikon service this morning to arrange the return of my D300 :)

Oh. I must have misunderstood them. I know they closed down a few days before Christmas and thought it was all over until 2013.

Either way, I'll have to wait until the 2nd to get the camera over to them.

In better news, they said something about a 2 day turnaround.
 
Woah! If they turn it around in a few days I'll be a happy bunny :D
 
My D3S and 400mm took over 8 weeks despite being an NPS member and they had the parts in stock, they just decided to prioritise repairs coming in from the Olympics
 
My d700+16-35 repair took about a week in all. Would have been quicker, but there was a bank holiday in bewteen and a delay with them requesting the lens to be sent in for repair too.

Labour cost was £70 an hour.
