Anyone sent a camera to Nikon Service in here?
My D7000 is back focussing so badly I can't fine tune it out so am sending it in for callibration:bang:
Just wondering on peoples experience with Nikon and how long they took to sort things out.
Thanks

They usually have them returned to you within 2 weeks Julian. I'm now an NPS member, this helps a bit. Often within a week and sometimes they will lend equipment if necc.

Kev.

I also need to send my D7000 for the top LCD to be repaired but need to save up as im not sure how much it will cost!

Would be great to know what you think the service is like.

Hi, I recently sent my Nikon D3S for repair. I sent it on Thursday and had it back the following Thursday. I am a NPS member but don't know if this helps or not. If your camera is still under warranty contact Nikon Service and they will email you a postage lable to return the camera to them for repair.

Even though I sent my D3S for repair I'm still having problems with it so it's going back.

Thats good news Graham. Are you an NPU or NPS member? I know when I was an NPU member the speed of service wasn't as quick as what you have experienced.

Kev.

I've sent D5000 & lenses to be calibrated..... just over 3 weeks on both occasions :|

Hi Kev, I'm an NPU member, perhaps being as it was the week before Christmas, they got it sorted a bit quick rather than leave it sat on a bench over the festive holidays.

Still good service. Speed anyway. I believe you still have problems..:'(

Yes sadly, seems to have come back in a worse condition than was originally sent in for. I've got another game to shoot on Saturday, so I'll give it another blast to see if it's me or the camera??

Hmmm - looking at the above replies I don't think i'll hold my breath for the 15th Jan then. May have to buy a cheap backup body just to tide me over.
Thanks for the replies folks - will keep you all posted to how it goes.

BTW Graham - been following your thread to see how things were going before I sent mine in:)

Cheers for that Kev:-)
It's nothing important anyway - just a meet with the lads.
Good to know that there are people out there willing to help though:thumbs:

Latest news is:- phoned Nikon today as not had a confirmation of arrival email from them. They said they were working on it now and were cleaning the dust from UNDERNEATH the low pass filter (how that got under there God only knows), adjusting the back focus and recalibrating the auto focus and clean and inspect. They hope to send it out on Monday so hopefully all will be well for a meet up with the lads:-)

i've been told by my friend that is a pro photography and register as NPS with Nikon.

He said that the member of NPS will get all their gear repair and quick turn around and priority over consumer.

So that probably explain why gear return back to us takes 2-3 weeks.

Latest update:- Got an email from Nikon Service yesterday which said my camera had been repaired and sent out. Thinking it would be the same 48 hour service they use to send it in I thought it would be back tomorrow - it arrived today on a 24 hour service.
Checked it all over - focus is now bang on with my 24-70 Nikkor and all my dust bunnies are gone - looks like Nikon Service have come good this time.
