Hi

I'm after sending my D700 to Nikon servicing to have the rubber grips replaced and re-stuck a well as having the sensor cleaned. Just wondered if anyone had a rough idea of what the turn around time would be for this from sending it off for a quote to getting it back finished?

I had a full d700 body service, pcb board replacement, plus my 16-35 had a new bayonet mount, aperture lever and associated bits and service and I had them back within 7 days from posting it off. That included a delay whist they found out why the lens got stuck on the body. I actually posted the lens separately a couple of days later, so the body took a bit longer to come back than it might have.

Good to know! If you don't mind me asking, how much was the service for the D700?
 
It was free, as it was included with the repair of the lens and body after the lens got stuck on. Both were out of warranty, but it turned out to be a manufacturing defect and they footed the bill

I got an invoice for around £280 before they finally fessed up to it being their fault, but that included the replacement of the pcb board and associated labour.
The service itself, including the rubbers shouldn't be more than £150 I wouldn't think.
I'll dig out the invoice and see if I can roughly cost it up without the repair.
 
Ok, so the labour was 1.5hrs at £74.53 an hour for my repair and service just for the body.

The rubbers were £20.44, £14.18 and £2.49.
The service aspect isnt listed seperately, so I assume its in with the labour.

So total parts cost would be £37.11 + VAT = £44.53.

Then however much labour, I would guess an hour max, so add another £74+VAT.

Of course the labour rates might be different for repairs and service, but as a rough ball park then £133 ish.

Bear in mind Nikon have a bit of a backlog from the Olympics... at least that's what they told me!

Thanks for the warning! I'll be needing the camera quite soon so may leave it a couple of weeks before I send it off then
