Nikon Spring Cashback

If it is like previous offers, just to note that the money comes back on a plastic card that you can spend at shops, supermarkets, etc., - just a few conditions that you need to watch out for
 
Tempting for the 24-70 but still more than it would cost me for the 24-120... But this cash back card pee me off as was hoping it be cash to put back into saving for reducing the cost of the lens

Err spend it on fuel, food etc like cash.
 
Interesting cashback deals even if it is a cashback card, the 85mm 1.8 for £300 or 70-200 f2.8 vr2 for £1354 when including cashback sounds like a good deal if you are already thinking about either lens.

The 24-70 would still be cheaper than it was without the cashback deal. There is a reason why one lens is £1200 and one £750, at least the cashback deal reduces the difference slightly.

Like twist says just spend the cashback on normal every day purchased and put the cash you would have spent in your savings.

I've not used either but if it's anything like the 70-200 f4 and the 70-200 f2.8 vr2 there are clear reasons why one costs more than the other. The build and f2.8 capability makes the 70-200 f2.8 vr2 more expensive. It's a case of whether you will miss f2.8 and better build otherwise the smaller, lighter nearly as good f4 lens should be good enough. I had to decide on the 70-200 f2.8 and f4, I went with the f4 because it's nearly as good but smaller and lighter which is always useful.

The 85 1.8 was £329 on Amazon yesterday, would have been £279 after cashback! I'm going to set up a price watch and see if it drops again.

If they are supplying nikon uk supplied camera and lens they should be ok. Their website looks like they have participated in previous cash back offers. It would of course need checking before purchase. I can't see the 85mm f1.8 dropping below its current price of £349. I'm going to have a look at the NEC in a few weeks to see if there is a few pound off as a show price but don't hold much hope.
