well went to order this lens , but was told that nikon has stopped this lens because of a fault....Bloody annoyed now..

It's probably to do with the recall. Someone found AF locked out if you were auto focusing when zooming in or out. There is a lens thread where it's been discussed. At least it may start to drop in price by the time it's available again.

Mark - this was fixed a few weeks back. Factory is producing and applying the new firmware.
