Nikon TC-17EII owners - Should it come supplied with a case?

Yes
I have just purchased a used TC-17EII teleconvetor, which was adertised as "coming with complete accessories", but there was just the TC and both lens caps - no Nikon CL-0715 soft case (as shown on the Nikon website).

Link ...

My question, to those who bought this product brand new, is; Has this bag always been included, or is it a recent addition?

I'm currently debating whether or not to open a dispute with the seller and would like to be sure of the facts, before I accuse him of making false claims in his listing :|.

Thanks in advance for your input :)!

I have a TC-20EII & TC-14EII; neither of these came with a case.

If it came complete with all accessories, then I guess it should have come with a manual (all my lenses have had manuals in the box). The manual will tell you which accessories are 'standard' and which are 'optional'.

That's an interesting idea, I hadn't thought of that! Yes, I have the manuals and all of the packaging, so I'll check that out when I get home. Thanks.

The 1.7 was shipped with a soft case when I bought one a few weeks ago.

That makes sense, Andy. It seems that the soft case is now a standard accessory with all the Nikon TCs. I just wonder how long it's been that way !?

Would it be possible for you to post a pic of the box at all? The box that mine came in looks too small to include a soft case as well, so maybe they're using a bigger box now. Don't worry if it's too much trouble though.

Thanks for your answer :).

I've got 11 Nikon Teleconverters which is hopefully enough to be a representative sample.

5 x TC-14E II ... none came with a case
3 x TC-17E II ... ALL came with a CL-0715 soft case
3 x TC-20E II ... none came with a case

I sometimes wonder what the people at Nikon are smoking.

The box is at my Dads at the mo, so it would take me a few days to get hold of it. The case does fold / roll up very small though.

I think the term "complete with accessories" means back and front lens caps.

There seems to be no common standard as to Nikon cases.
My 24-70 has a soft pouch that gives little protection, but my 200mm f.4 has a cracking rigid mock leather case reminiscent of the days when all kit had top quality cases.

My 1.7 TC didn't come with the little drawstring pouch thing, but my friends do have those pouches but maybe not from the 1.7x - they do have the 1.4x and 2x as well.

Don't worry about it :D

That is a very good indicator. Thanks, Stewart :)! It also tallies with what is listed for each of those TCs on Nikon's website - only the TC-17EII and the new TC-20EIII come with cases . Go figure!

Not to worry, Andrew ;).

According to the (current) Nikon website though, the caps and the case are included. Link...

So, I was wondering if I had been short-changed, or if Nikon have only recently started to include a case with the TC17EII.

Ultimatley, it's not that crucial, as I can easily use a bag from a lens or a ball head to protect it. Still, I don't like dealing with eBay sellers who make false claims in their lisitngs .

Did you buy it new, desantnik?

As you know (from another thread of mine), this TC might not live up to my expectations, although I haven't yet received the 70-200mm f2.8 lens to try it on :|. If it does turn out to be too soft, rather than try to sell it on, I could always just dispute the listing with the seller and get my money back via PayPal :naughty:. Hence the reason for this thread ;).

No not new, but it came from a good friend of mine who had bought it new only a few weeks before and I got all the bits and bobs with it. If it had been in the box, I would have got it.

When I bought my 1.7 TC, from Kerso, it came with a case / pouch. The 1.4, however, which I bought more recently didn't! I thought that I was being had, with no pouch with the 1.4; but having checked Nikon's website, it does seem right that it's not included.

So, to answer your query, the 1.7 ought to have one included; and so long that Nikon website doesn't state otherwise, and yours isn't grey import / 2nd-hand, then I figure it ought to have it included

Actually Wail, it is second hand. They cost well over 400 Euros in Germany, so I thought that I'd get this used one (for a bit less), as it was sold as "As new. Complete with all accessories".

Like I said before, if it doesn't look good with the 70-200mm, I can try to obtain a refund on the grounds that the listing was misleading. If, on the other hand, it gives acceptable results, I'll just keep it and get on with using it :).

Sorry, I somehow didn't see the 6th word from your original post (used)!

You seem to have your priorities right! If it works to your satisfaction, then just keep it.

I went and dug out the box for my TC in case the "scrotum" was in there and I had just never used it (I tend to leave the useless junk in the boxes LOL!) but no, definitely no bag.

Definitely never had one.

Thanks again for all of the replies. My new lens was delivered today :) ... but I was at work and missed it :'(, so they're coming again tomorrow.

Once I've tried them out together, I'll decide what to do .
