Hi Al

My D300s seems to have stopped communicating with my laptop. When trying to download via cable and Nikon Transfer nothing happens. Nikon transfer is highlightrd in autoplay and launch on connection is ticked in Nikon Transfer preferences.
Everyting works fine when putting card directly into latop.
Can the cable be damaged, seems unlikely.....no obvious signs or have I accidently changed something on the camera menu??

Help please.

Hi John,

What do you really mean by putting card directly into laptop.
Is it through a card reader or a direct SD card in your sd card or a CF through a PCMCIA card .

Did you check your USB port is working fine or some drivers missing ...?

Did you try with a different USB port.

Did you try with different computer with the and the same cable.

Did the D300s shows the flicking ..........I............ symbol like this when it is connected to computer.

I had that once. Oddly it was the battery was low enough for the camera to turn on but it wouldn't connect to my pc for transfer. I charged the battery and it worked again.

Perhaps try that?

My laptop has the card reader built in, no external reader or PCMCIA used.
Have tried other other USB ports on laptop and problem persists, hwever I have not another computer....will give it a try.
And finally yes I have the green flicker on the D300s
