I own the 18-35mm G lens. I was playing around with DXO lens database and wanting to see what the scores of the UWA lenses are on D810 which I am thinking of getting.

interestingly the 18-35mm G is rated above the 16-35mm f4 VR. The sharpness value is quite a bit more than the 16-35mm...on par with the 14-24mm on the D810.

I am not sure if these are taken with the image not being distortion corrected which will affect the final sharpness mark.

and other than slightly less distortion, the 16-35mm would appear to be marginally worse on every category, as well as having more complex lens design meaning less light being allowed through...

But the 16-35 has VR, which neither of the other does...

It comes down to what's more important, absolute speed and sharpness (14-24), lightweight (18-35) or VR (16-35). My 16-35 is sharper than I could possibly need on a D610 and gives me the ability to shoot handheld in very dark situations and for me that are more important than the other factors, YMMV of course...
 
Also the option for more affordable filter systems on 16-35 and 18-35.

though the VR function, if you take the transmission information as being absolute, and the 18-35 has f3.5 @ 18mm and the 16-35 has f4 @ 16mm and the VR lens lets in half a stop less light...so thats almost one stop of the VR performance used to compensate the loss of light.

it's interesting isn't it :)
 
did you mean MTF? OTF is the guarded secret in the lens design?

if you click on individual lens in the DXO link, it will take you to the lens which has been tested on that particular camera body and there is a tab called "Measurements" which has MTF curves with f-stops and focal length, not as good as the DP review ones, but in the similar vein.
