Nikon v Canon service & reliability

Having been a fairly satisfied long term Nikon user i have been tempted lately to try out some on Canons latest goodies .... Primarily the Canon 7D body and a couple of their top lenses. However I have been somewhat put off by some reports of Canon’s poor track record for both reliability and service.

I would like to hear from the Canon users here about their experiences with Canon’s service and reliability and possibly also from those who moved over from Nikon to Canon … and possibly back again

Barring the 1DMkIII "issue", both seem to be about the same IMHO.

I wouldn't choose one over the other on that basis.
