Nikon Warranty

Looking for some quick advice..

What information is needed to register the Nikon online warranty? I am looking at 2nd hand bodies and noticed some say they have the card but would I need more than that to register it?

You need the serial number, just because the card is in the box doesn't mean it has been registered, I have registered all my new Nikon kit, but have all the warranty cards in the boxes. I did buy a second hand body and tried to register it on Nikon's site, but it came up that it had already been registered, also Nikon Warranty is not transferable.
 
Think you can only register new equipment and it must be within 30 days of purchase.
Serial number and date of purchase is required.

If the 1st owner registered the kit then you'll certainly get a knock back straight away.

They will transfer the registration (but not the warranty) if you drop them an email. ...then you'll likely get a letter about insurance for your new camera :D

You just need the serial number.

Nikon warranties are not transferable.

If you want a warranty you need to buy a new one.

It makes no difference if you "register" it, but just because you typed a serial number into Nikon.co.uk it doesn't mean you have a warranty - you need the original receipt, and almost all Nikon dealers put the name and address of the person they sold it to.
 
Hi Andy, done a quick google search but can't find anything on purchasing a warranty. Do they do this? If so do you know how I'd go about it?
 
Often wondered why some warranties are for the original owner, same with bike frames.

Does it matter who owns it if it fails, can't see the problem if the company has proof of the purchase date?
