Hey this is nikons sample images site for the D3000

These photos specially the 4th one (bucket of purple flowers), were they really shot with the D3000 - 18-55 mm lens ?

I just feel this is misleading.........

i have the d5000 and (d60 before) and yeah why not??

i dont have a macro lens - i shot this with my 18-55....

and a similar type of shot (bucket/flowers)
again with the kit lens

Yep I'd say that in pro hands the D3000 can perform very well! Taken off auto any SLR can perform much better than you ever thought possible! Stick a 35mm 1.8 on one and it will blow your mind for the money!

Exif says D3000, but of course that can be edited.

I got some pretty good stuff out of a mate's D5000 a while back...at the sizes seen here, they're indistinguishable from those taken on my D3...
