Nikon Wide Angle... 16-35?

Folks how is the Nikon 16-35?
Im off on holiday in a few weeks to Italy with my D600 and was planning on taking primes (20,24,35)
But I've been wondering if I might be better off investing in a 16-35 and taking a 50/85 to go with it......

Its excellent. A bit of distortion at the wide end, but easily fixable in post.


Sharp, light and the VR can come in very handy.

I love mine, sharp from corner to corner wide open on my D700, flare is virtually non-existent - you can point it straight at the sun with no real issues.

Distortion at the wide end is fixed by a click in Lightroom, other than that I can't see how it could be better.

This is my next purchase, so interested in any feedback from users. I have the 20mm prime and that's good. But will be looking to get a 16-35 in the autumn.

I'd like a 16-35 long term for my photography and I think it might be a good wide/normal option for Italy!

Great lens, I love it. (Used on my D700 mostly)
