I've currently got a Sigma 15-30 F3.5-4.5 DG And I love some of the wide open pictures but would like to go that little bit wider.

I don't want to spend a fortune on what is essentially just a lens to take pictures I like rather than as lens for commercial use as it were.

But what's the best really wide bang for buck lens that I can get for sub £300?

Experiences and samples appreciated.
 
I'm looking into this myself at the moment. Have spent the last few weeks trawling net reviews and looking at samples on flickr.

£300 gets you surprisingly little choice. The two that spring to mind at the sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6 and the Tokina 12-24 F4. If you buy used, both should should squeeze under budget. I gather the Tokina is the sharper lens but obviously the Sigma is quite a bit wider. You pays your money...

There is also a 10-24 but I never get the impression that is particularly well regarded.

Lastly, if you can stretch the budget, there is the Tokina 11-16 2.8. I've more or less decided on this one but I think used ones are going to be £400+
