Spending imaniginary money...

Thinking of exchanging my tamron 17-50 for primes. I already have a 35mm, so a 50 mm and a 17mm (or wider) should fit the bill.

So i discover on lenshawk, theres just one AF lens available, the large nikon 14mm 2.8 - are there any others they missed?

If the question is about Nikon-fit primes which are 17mm or wider, then - excluding various fisheyes - that's the only one. You could check it against the very long list at Camera Price Buster if you're curious.

And ironically there's very little point in buying the 14mm f/2.8. The 14-24mm f/2.8 is a much better lens for a similar price.

The 14mm is a great lens but I think I agree with Stewart that it is made largely redundant by the 14-24 which performs equally well but offers variable length.

The 20mm AFD is a great lens though obviously not quite as wide as you were looking for.

Tokina 11-16mm is pretty good - fairly well priced (around 400-500ukp new)
Links in the sig for pics.

samyang do a 14mm but its manual focus. They also have an 8mm manual that looks pretty damn good too.

Might be worth checking on flickr for these lenses and pictures taken with them?

Zeiss have just announced a 15mm 2.8, and may i say its a very good looking lens.

Is indeed a lovely looking lens. I Had the sudden sensation that I really wanted one... 15mm, Zeiss quality of optics and build, filter thread for grads etc... Then I saw the price almost had a hernia. £2250 on Robert White. Lol.

Back to waiting for Nikon to pull their finger out and fill/renew the gaps in their lens range.

Just had a look at the robert white site, nearly £10k for a set of 6 Zeiss primes. And i thought Nikon was expensive!

If it turn out to be distortion free,it could sell quite well. :)
