Funny that is, I have a 28mm that’s a nightmare for purple fringing, my 40mm has none. A mate of mine has the same and his 28mm shows no fringing at all.

I've been debating that one with myself for a while...I was looking at a second hand Sigma 12-24mm Art but I was put off by the size and weight so was then looking at the 14-30mm F4 for a bit more but then get into the trap of a 14-24mm is just a bit more on top of that.

I went for the Nikon 14-30mm f4 Z S as it is ideal as it takes 82mm filters, I already have the 14-24mm f2.8 in F mount but it needs 150mm filters. Many/some reports indicate the 14-30 Z is as sharp as the 14-24 Z.

I bought the 14-30 when it first came out, on the basis it’s lightweight, small & takes 82mm filters. I have particularly limited experience using mine as its not a focal length I use but having thought about selling it I’ve come to the conclusion it’s small enough and useful enough to keep.
 
I photographed 4 camera club owners' dogs near me yesterday, all with the Z6ii and the Z105 macro

I'm delighted to say that even the blackest one, the one with hardly any eyes visible, and the running one were all captured equally well, with hardly any even slightly OoF

My pal and his Canon DSLR got NO shots at all in focus of the running Collie - it was going almost flat out at times, but still - PMSL at Canon

I was trying to decide whether to upgrade my Z7 to a Z8 until I checked the body weights.
Z7 = 675g v. Z8 = 910g I dont need a camera that adds extra weight to my carry. Yes it is a better camera AF-wise but it wont take any better pictures unless I need that AF speed.

Thanks but I am not sure that the Z7ii is any better than the Z7 according to the reviews. I was hoping that a Z7iii might come but I dont think it will as it would be competition for the Z8 sales.

I was on holiday recently with my dog who was enjoying getting into the sea and it just amazes me what current cameras can do. In the 2000s when I used Olympus 4/3 cameras I had a handful of photos of my dog in the water that I was really pleased with whereas this time the Z8 just consistently nailed the shots so I could pick the exact ones I wanted.

I can appreciate the concerns about the size and weight of the Z8 which I didn't really think would be an issue because this design of camera is not going to fit in a pocket but it just feels hefty to use and pack into bags. I was checking something on the Sony A9 the other day and it feels really small in comparison but for me it's worth it for its capabilities.

I absolutely love the size and feel of the Z8. Feels like a proper camera, solid yet not oversized. Special bit of kit.

I’m tempted to change my Z7ii for a Z8 as there’s a couple of things I’d like over my Z7 but still haven’t tried one in the hand yet. I guess when that happens I’ll be able to make a more inforeed decision based on the weight v the features. Not that there’s ‘really’ anything wrong with my Z7ii for what I shoot.
 
Definitely hold it Dave. For me it was the handling that spoiled it over the weight.

Anything specific you didnt like? I havent had a hands on of a Z8 but my D850 seemed huge compared to the Z7 which seemed to work just as well so the D850 went when I got the Z9.

I knew it was larger before I ordered it. Hoped it would feel like a slightly bigger Z6. Nope.
Tried to get used to it. Just couldn’t.
 
Just my thoughts, but for me the Z8 depends on what I’m using it for and what lens I have attached. If I’m using the camera for holiday and city break types photography, then yes I’d agree it’s a litter bigger and larger than I’d like, as typically I’d want to be as small and light as possible.

However if I’m doing wildlife or birds and am using bigger lenses like my 180-600, 400 f4.5, 100-400 or 500PF, then to be honest, an extra couple of hundred grams in weight is hardy noticeable over something like a Z6 or Z7 II, and the extra size of the Z8 gives a much better handling experience with larger lenses without having to resort to a battery grip.

Absolutely, personally I couldn't see myself using a Zf without a grip having tried one at the Photography Show (and even then wasn't overly enamoured with the layout, controls, etc.) but this is why the different models exist :D
