Yes, the 4-way tilting screen on the Z8 was one of the key drivers for me to stump up the money.

I find articulating screens incredibly frustrating to use, and horizontal-tilt only ones useless for a lot of my photography (vertical pictures).

The Z8 is brilliant in how quick and easy it is to tilt horizontally or vertically, and the same screen design would perfectly suit how I use the Zf.

Apparently, Sony has some cameras that use a similar 4-way design, but also articulate, which might be better, but maybe bulkier, and maybe not so robust. I haven't looked at them closely.

As a mainly stills photographer, I would like to see this 4-way design across all of Nikon's cameras (or a 4-way plus articulation).

My fear is that unless they change the design to add articulation (aka Sony), given their new emphasis on video, they might go backwards and simply put articulating screens on all their cameras. I wait impatiently to see what they do with the Z9 II.

I hadn't thought about selfies, but it's video users who seem to be the most vocal about needing an articulating screen. I would rather use a small external monitor for video than an articulating screen, but I think I have only ever shot video from a tripod.

So for me, an articulating screen for stills, is a far bigger inconvenience than a 4-way tilt screen is for video.

Nikon took fujis screen design from the x-t2. I’ve always preferred it tbh. Especially with a battery grip on and shooting in portrait orientation.

I don’t really shoot enough video to need the fully articulating screen. There must be a mass of video shooters as most brands seem to prefer that type of screen now. Sony has a good option with the option of using tilt or full articulating which came from the a7r5.

Will be interesting what Nikon do with the next z8/z9. Unlikely they will be able to please everybody.

Yes it is on the Sony A7R VI.
It is perfect.
I am happy with the screen on the Zf as I never use it except for occasional image review or Menu changes, in fact I turn it over to face inwards.

I don't really use it much either, but I'm very conscious of how often I use it on the Z8 to get a bit lower down (both for horizontal and vertical pictures).

Out of laziness, I often make do with a higher than optimal viewpoint with the Zf, because I don't want to crawl about on the ground or work out which way I need to twist the articulating screen to get the angle I need.
