Nikon Z* mirrorless

just run around 100 shots through it , fast focus and smooth , lovely bokeh wide open still very sharp in centre ,bokeh widens out at around f4 but still very nice .. I rarely use short lenses so not given it any proper use as yet ,but will do .
got mine on evil bay .private seller . came boxed and in as new condition paid circa £150 delivered
Thank you. Want to get a 85mm but not sure if I would use it enough or not. Have also seen the f2 evo which people say is better so will just keep looking for a cheap one for now.

I have an 85mm f2 evo which I picked up off Ali Express for £140 shipped, they regularly have discount vouchers. Pick a seller with decent UK reviews, add it your basket and leave it there. Sometimes they send vouchers sometimes they don’t ;)

I’ve not used it much but it’s impressed when I have.

Just bought a viltrox 20mm f2.8 , got a mint 9+ used one from Wex for £100 .. just fancied one after reading the reports on it… arrives tomorrow

Lens arrived this morning as new condition, took a few test shots it’s a keeper ,even found a nice CPL filter for it in my spares drawer

Only done initial testing so far Jonathan but it’s definetly a keeper , I chose the route of used from Wex but there only about £30 dearer new on e.bay .if I get a chance I’ll take a few sample shots later .

and here ya go nothing special just a few test shots down the estuary , quite surprised in colour variations by stopping down.. no fancy editing done just cropped slightly and standard LR/PS processing but imho both lenses behaved well with a fair degree of sharpness and no drastic nit picking . I'm not a landscape guy so could definitely have improved on these with due care and attention
first off 85mm @ f1.8
then @ f5.6

thinking about getting a nikon 50mm F1.8S. but a bit hesitant as I don't think ill use it much if at all ?????

Just bit the bullet and bought it . No pockets in a shroud LOL

How does the 50mm compare to the 40mm f/2?

I'm using an old G 50mm lens with ftz, but I want something a little wider almost always and I'm hoping the 40mm will be good.

Opinions?

The 40mm is fine. It lacks clinical sharpness of the 50mm, especially at closer focused shots. CA and vignette may also present itself more often with the 40mm. also, it’s an all plastic mount but plus side is it’s probably similar weight to the ftz.

The 40mm is definitely inferior, but not a bad lens by any stretch.

The Nikon Z 50mm F1.8S is the only lens I own, coupled to my Nikon Z 6ii, it is an excellent lens.

Sadly, due to ill health I will be advertising my camera and lens for sale on this forum shortly.
Complete with -- 2 cards, Sandisk extreme pro 64 gb and Sony XQD 64gb. Battery charger and XQD card reader.
Nikon FTZ lens adapter.

Useful to know that as I keep thinking it would be good on my Zf.

Sorry to hear about your health issues.

Typical, I looked and looked for a decently priced Z8 and Z6iii local to me, had no luck so ordered new via grey.

This morning both cameras have popped up locally for £800 and £1800. :p

That seems cheap on both counts!

Buy them and return the others. Assuming you have funds available of course.
