just booked nile cruise going in march so will be taking photos from boat to riverside plus the usual tours of temples etc any advice from anyone who has been regarding equipment, best time of day or even best places to visit would be helpful

Hi mate,
I went to Luxor about 7 years ago. When you are in the temples or the Valley of the Kings/Queens be careful with your kit. It can get very dusty.

There is so much to see and do! Take water, low value notes for bribing and tipping and a good dust pen.

You should have good light and most of the trips you'll do are pretty close up. My 18-135 has seen a good chunk of the world and the range does mean that you don't need to change your lens outside.

Have a great holiday.
Chris

thanks for info, I will remember the dust advice sounds obvious but hadnt thought about it.

Try and take in the night time light shows, watch out for the heat in the afternoon, most trips off the boat are in the morning before it gets too hot, the light is great in the morning, take toilet paper with you on your excursions, drink plenty of bottled water, when the kids, near the lock (yes there is a lock on the river) throw little film camera cases up to the boat (for you to put money into to buy their goods) try not to put your fingers in your mouth (or wash your hands straight away) as they are generally contaminated by the dirtiest part of the river and this is what gives you the Pharaohs revenge.

Can I come too
