Not sure what you mean by "change a Canon fit software" but as far as I know Canons and Nikons have different voltages going through the hot shoe and using one make on the other can lead to a fried camera. Possibly the same with a Nikon-fit Nissin flash on a Canon body. Also, I wouldn't necessarily expect Auto-TTL to work. But I'm no flash expert. Though I do have this particular model on my to-buy list.
 
The TTL pins are in different places for a kick-off so I'd say even if you could change the software it still wouldn't work.....
 
I've got one of these as the OP knows. I did some digging about on the net and couldn't find anywhere saying it's possible. You may be able to get them to work as off camera remotes using wireless adapters but I wouldn't try it directly on the hotshoe. Certainly wouldn't work TTL if you did, and you might end up with deep fried flash and camera.
Garry, it's a great flash, very powerful, fast recharge and very easy to use. Well worth the money.

The OP probably read someplace where someone has claimed to flash the Nissin with Nikon firmware but if the pin set is different I cant see how it would work.
