No Panasonic G6 replacement?

Is M4/3 on the way out?

I have been waiting for a replacement for the Panny G6 but still nothing on the way? I know they have the GX7 and GH1 but both of those seem to be using pretty much the same technologist and 16Mb sensor - and both 2013. Have there been any rumours of a technical refresh that I missed?

Thanks.

Hi

The problem Panasonic have is that to improve on the G6 would need them to take quite a bit from the GH4 and almost make one of them pointless overnight.

I suspect that what we will see is a G7 & GH5 at some point with a higher resolution sensor, 20/24MP but doubt we will see that before 2016 to let the development of the GH4 pay for itself.

I note that the price of the G6 has dropped a fair chunk and is marked as discontinued. The GH4 is (to me) just too expensive. Seems that the age of camcorders came and went without too much fuss but there functionality went straight to still cameras as an added extra and the GH4 is one of those gap fillers.

The good news is that rumour sites are saying that the G7 will be announced in mid May. The bad news is that the rumour is that it'll share the same sensor as the GX7. Not a bad thing in itself until we remember that the GX7 has been out for some time now.

I don't know if MFT is on the way out as they're still bringing out nice lenses but body wise I personally think they're behind the best and stagnating (Panasonic at least) for stills shooters anyway.
