After getting a great response to my last issue which is now fixed i thought i would try you guys to help resolve a LONG STANDING issue i have.

Each time i plug my camera into the pc and download the images from it the Wifi disconnects and wont connect again until i turn off the camera or disconnect the camera. When i run other apps it fine even with CS4 etc.

My pc isnt the highest of spec but not the worst either, its about 3 years old, running XP.Any ideas how or what can be causing this.

Sounds like a hardware conflict, next time you plug the camera in, go to your desktop and right click My Computer and select manage, then select device manager from there andhave a look if there is anything with a red exclamation mark next to it. If so let us know what it says and we can take it from there.

Is your wifi adapter a USB one? Could be a lack of USB power/driver conflict....

If so, look at installing an internal one - you will get much better performance IMO too...

Nope, no exclamation marks next to any of them.

I have a USB dongle fitted to pick up the signal however the green light stays on when im downloading pics, j network screen on bottom right of pc stops flashing the green signal when downloading from the camera.

Smooth is probably right then.

Lack of power is the likely candidate, e.g. there are several reports of the WN-100 USB wifi adapter disconnecting when something else is plugged into another USB port.

You could buy a powered USB hub - or better still get an internal CF card reader and don't use the D700 to upload pics to PC. Here's one for a fiver http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sweex-CR005...1_2?ie=UTF8&s=computers&qid=1285173241&sr=8-2

:D Sweet - Cheers Neil.

Cheques/cash to.... :naughty:

Any update OP?

Works for me!

And I would put all the money you sent me on betting that the OP is downloading pictures at the moment :naughty:

What about firewire? Would that still cause the issues issues that i currently have. I have a firewire port and extension lead so would just need a firewire card reader?

Depends where the firewire port gets its power from - it may be the same as the USB ports.
