Took the camera along to my sons Christmas party on Sunday. How hard is it trying to capture kids at a party, always on the bloody move!

These aren't the best pictures, but the best two I got on the day!

The wee fella was obsessed with that doll, should I be worried?

I agree that it would have been better taken from lower, but by the time I'd have got down there he'd have been off again

Did you diffuse/bounce the flash? May have slightly softened the shadow edges. Nicely captured, thoughtful expression in the 1st, well done

Thanks, unfortunately I only had the built in flash on the 350D! I have a Jessops flash, but the batteries were dead, that may have provided better results!

He's got great eyes though, he would look great with some close ups I bet!

I've got a "nifty fifty" coming in the next couple of weeks, prepare for overload on portraits!

Not got the "nifty fifty" yet, but some more portrait attempts from today!

I'm trying to get away from using the automatic settings and shot these in manual mode, they are a bit noisy, think I might have had the ISO a bit high.
