It is that time of the year again and a spectacular display last night/this morning, an awesome sight.

Beautiful. I've never seen noctilucent clouds. I can see I'm going to have to do some research into where and when they are visible....

Seen them here occasionally, but never one that scale.

They only occur during the summer months and on clear nights, or at least clear spells of course, and facing north, but as to when I just check out the window before going to bed.

Some nights it feels like there should be some, i.e. the conditions look right but there aren't and other times the opposite is true.

Similar to Aurora I suppose but they can be detected and you can get alerts to the possibility. I don't think there is a connection between the two other than the clear skies.
