Yes
I've just purchased a sigma 150 500mm second-hand from ebay. I'm pleased with this lens overall but it does seem a bit noisy. Does anyone know if this is normal with this lens or could the lens be faulty.

You could hear the OS system working on my Sigma 150-500 and also on focusing, so unless it is really noisy nothing to worry about.

Thanks Artyman that's put my mind at rest because I do like this lens. It does seem to drain my batteries though. Is this normal and if so do you recommend getting any different batteries. I use a Canon 30D.

If it's just as the OS is kicking in then yes, there is a bit of noise.
Turn the OS off and use the lens (just to check), it should then be virtually silent.

Thanks for that Mike.P I'm at work at the minute but I will check that when I get back.

Sigma can be a bit lousy with their OS. My old 120-400mm sounded like stuck gears.

It's not too bad its just a bit more noisy than my Canon 70 300 with is. I was just a bit worried that there might be something wrong but listening to the advice from you guys it looks like there's nothing to worry about.
