Nokia N95 WLAN settings

I have an issue in that my phone is constantly searching for wireless networks and is beeping every few seconds especially when I'm out in the car. It gets to the stage where I sometimes can't even use the phone because it insists that I connect to a WLAN. Problem is I can't find anywhere that lets me turn this functionality off. Can anyone help? Pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaase!

If you click on were its searching you can turn it off from what I can remember if that makes any sence to you

OK, now I'm confused. When it says either it has or hasn't found networks I get the option of OK or Cancel. If I press Cancel, it just tries again in a few seconds and beeps. I don't get the option to turn the function off.

Indeed, and I'm sure it slurps up all your battery power as well. It's gone from fully charged to 3 bars in a few hours!

I know, you showed it to me! Problem is, I didn't pick up the phone until yesterday.

I saw both phones together in the shop yesterday and they looked the same size to me, so I'm thinking thos pics are not to scale.
