Non Photo Bags, As camera bags?

Hello all!

I'm looking at getting a bag for all my camera stuff! I don't have that much 'Gear' But i have loads of bits, like batterys(Classic 1d=Massive Batterys!), Cards,Hoods(Metal),Blowers and other little bits.

Camera bags, are expensive for a nice sized one. I can't afford one. So i was looking at what alot of people i've seen and read do, which is buy a Army Surplus Canvas shoulder bag. I've looked around and a good sized one for what i need is around a tenner shipped.

Does anyone else do this?
 
Because of the nature (pardon the pun) of the stuff I do, I have a camo rucksack which I've adapted, taking one of two padded lens cases side by side in the main compartment to carry my equipment. The rest of the kit (CF cards, etc.) then go into the side and front pockets. You basically have to make sure your equipment is sufficiently protected, as if it would be inside a dedicated camera bag.
 
I've various Tamrac bags now but I've certainly bought 'non photographic' bags in the past.

Fishing bags and shooting bags are worth a look. Some of the fishing shoulder bags are ideal and can be had a fraction of the cost.

Yeah, i mean when i got out its a 1D body which is more than happy to a few bumps against batterys, its taken lots already and still more than happy to carry on. Anything else is a Len's which will normally be a Cheap M42 prime with the largest hood i can get thats metal, so they take abuse aswell, although they are so cheap its no worry if they die really :)
 
I often use my podsac as I havent found a camera bag that is any where near as comfortable for walking reasonable distances
 
And I'm thinking at a tenner, whats to loose? Just get another bag if i don't use it for camera gear :)
