Yes
A bit of a probably general knowledge thing.
But when getting prints done and the picture needs cropping or general adjusting to be able to fit the size print you'd like.
To be able to achieve the exact composition and crop for the final printed image[using a professional printing service]
Do you send them the high res file that you'd already, lets say, in PS, fit and cropped/composed into an i.e 8x10 canvas size[PS canvas size that is]

Or what? How does it work?

And to do that, you do like I gave an example of above?[genuine question, I need to make sure I'll be doing it properly :)]
So you place and crop the image within a canvas in PS of the size of the print? And if not, how do you do it?

That is the best way then this should eliminate any crop by the printers.

I only ever upload best jpegs for printing and don't use photoshop.

In order to get the right aspect ration on the full size picture file I run them through jpegcrops - a free program that saves the bit you want out of a jpeg without recompressing the picture so the quality is unchanged. Very quick to use and run through a folder of jpegs. You can move the crop to where you want easily too.
