Just got back from a weekend in Northumberland and managed to get some shots at Lindesfarne Castle, Farne Islands and Bamburgh Castle. I’m not very familiar with that part of the country but it made me wonder what other pearls it might have.

Northumberland is a whole necklace of pearls.
Alnwick,Cragside and more castle ruins and NT properties than you can shake a stick at and it reeks of history and border battles

Definitely somewhere that I would like to explore. This summer I stayed in the Tweed Valley, the same sort of latitude, but in Scotland (and a mecca for mountain biking). We stopped at a few Roman sites en-route, but didn't get to explore Northumberland much.
