Yep, they're good shots just need a little post-processing.
You get "soft" images when the shutter speed is fast enough to prevent real blur, but still quite slow. The images are ever so slightly blurred, which makes them look "soft". Or it can occour when the images are slightly out of focus. I think that's right, anyway.
The UnSharp Mask in Photoshop is a useful tool to fix this. Also called USM.
