It seems I can teach an old dog neutriks after all.

Yeah, it's good. It makes me smile that it's inspired a little to and fro also. I like when a picture inspires a bit of fun for other people too, it makes it a little bit more special to myself ☺️

ancient mariner is a man of many words and i like his repartee
i also want to get my post count up as it looks as if i take decent pictures to the newbies...;)

increasing your vocabulary is good to strengthen your composure at cocktail parties or at an embassy soirée being another reason i leap to the opportunity to show off my vast knowledge of related subjects, and worldly harangue..comme ci..

just an example of brilliant

a famous raconteur who specialised in doing puns in an extemporary way..was asked by the prince of wales..
i say old bean...lets have a pun on a king...what?
a king..he said..that's no subject.. and genuflected with a wink..

none of that is true except in readers digest

cheers

I'd have thought you'd had enough input on this one already?
Be careful - they can go right thru you.

dear Toni..the word is through..unless you mean the thru which refers to most of the over the pond macdonalds and street signs etc

really though i have a growing distaste for phonetics and hip expressions like..what would you guys like..at a restaurant and other middle class protestations
i have become less tolerant as i hear more and more...guess its age..
when i returned from being at school in the usa the first thing i got pulled up on was the american spelling of simple words like colour, and more of the our endings
going back several decades i know that is how they spelled those words..its not new
however we as a country also had those words...and stuck to them..
the population of the early settlers from multi language backgrounds must have found the ease of phonetic spelling a better choice...now i believe all the american people use this convenience...born to it i guess

just an observation..and one i must keep to myself..and a select feu

cheers

Geof, my dear friend Geof - I defer to the socket left of the input on the back of the wedge in exhibit A above. But why should the Japanese be able to write the Queen's english?

i guess its a trademark and cant be easily translated...like coca cola..or brylcreem
perhaps its the nearest phonetic spelling of the family honorable name and this wouldnt fit into the gap
ヤマハ株式会社

we seem to have conflicts all over the world

i spotted the thru finally and suggest that space was at a premium or the equipment is not made only for the real english speaking market...but we can understand foreign languages...like the adapted english the western atlantic countries have used for decades. who knows..??

yours
geof san

having read that...again my dear dear friend.
the language change from the queens english to the colonies adaptations...is the same language with differing spelling..although phonetic..or fonetik..
i think the japanese write in our language and spelling is to communicate with us..in our own language
i daresay the japanese are also inundated with western jargon...i never got to speak japanese but i will ask my daughter..who lived and worked there for 3 years
she told me the bus drivers when speaking english for the ? english ? passengers dont use slang but speak in an accent which is close to that of elvis presley and not john major
glad i dont have to speak cornish..or welsh..or gaelic...but tolerate it in the countries which have adopted it to move in the opposite direction
here is a good example
in the programmes showing people wanting to go abroad to live or the country from the city
the presenters invariably address all the clients as guys and when showing properties they explain prices in
pounds...then quid...the grand... all in the same conversation
i note this only out of interest... and bear no malice and completely understand the trend
cheers

あなたのお父さんはエルダーベリーのにおいをしませんでしたか? 私は驚いていない。
Anata no otōsan wa erudāberī no nioi o shimasendes***a ka? Watashi wa odoroite inai.

Shes using the 14-42 pancake zoom - it's tiny, and now we've fixed the shutter shock issue images are actually pretty decent, but the lenses aren't cheap. I believe the full size oly 14-45 is meant to be better, and likewise the latest Panny 14-45 (available for about £60 used from MPB).
