Wildlife, and by that I mean garden birds, birds etc. from hides at reserves rather than roaming the Serengeti or Highland moors, is something I'd like to try. Rather than plunge right in at the deep end of huge, heavy, fast, expensive zooms what might be a lens for my OM1 Mkii to adequately provide shots good enough to print to A4? Grateful for any advice.

If there are feeders & water 'attractants' then the 40-150mm used at the longer end should suffice.

If the hide is, for example overlooking a scrape where waders are feeding at a greater distance, anything over 300mm (with or with a TC)
