Off shoe flash

I have been thinking for a while about experimenting with flash, I thought a good place to start would be get get an of shoe cord, browsing I came across this from http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_1&products_id=111957 its as cheap as a off shoe cord and so might be a bit more flexible

Am I thinking right or should I just go for an off shoe cord :shrug:

i use a set of those on the Nikon, also very useful as a remote camera trigger instead of flash trigger, but they don't pass flash data back to camera so cannot use fancy TTL flash metering, and camera doesn't know a flash is attached.

Though 7day do a nice wired curly cord if you want to use the i-ttl for the flash ( is canon e-ttl ? )
