Oh dear gods ...

That looks like a sulphur release and not the northern lights ;)

I can tell you first hand that's the Northern lights!!! What do you mean by sulphur realease?? All volcanoes release vast amounts of sulphur products, mostly as SO2 gas which is toxic and forms sulphuric acid in contact with atmospheric water. If you mean burning sulphur then the only element that burns with a green flame is barium or copper, sulphur burns with a light blue almost invisble flame... Science nerd alert!

Icelanders having it all at the moment.

looks like aurora northern lights (nordurljos) to me too.

He gets everywhere! (with thanks to Barbarossa from b3ta)

That's definitely the Aurora though I can't see how that was done without merging two pictures. The Magma would be far blow out and overexposed:thinking:

My god - the tog who took this has skills to be able to compose and set exposure for such a nice picture while experiencing all that. I think i would have just started to shake and fainted :)

All great, but have you looked at the shots on the millhouse site. Are these people mental!!

Not to **** on anyone's parade, but I've seen much better pictures of an aurora and of the volcano. Sure it's odd seeing them side by side but they don't really complement one another in my eyes. Just me?
