Got my 5D a few weeks ago from another TP member and have scarcely put it down. I did a friends party on the weekend and i was really taken aback at how good the quality of the shots was. Yummy it is!
I have found the field of view quite different but its great for portrait work and wide is w i d e!

lol, they are still great cameras Duncan, I love mine and I'm really really loathed to part with it if I need more in the way of ISO so I might look at a 7D next year and keep the 5D rather than upgrading to a 5dII :)

Enjoy :)

You're a happy bunny then?

I'd agree with everything you say. I loved my 40D until I got my 5D, now she sits at home feeling forsaken for that "full frame wide girl with rich, rich colours". So once in a while I put a macro lens of the 100-400 on the 40D and take her out for the while.

Does anyone know how the 5D does compared to the MKII?

It seems that the 5D can be had for a song right now so on paper seems a better financial decision.

There was a similar question asked recently on FM forums. I seem to remember that a chap who'd moved from a mk1 to a mk2 suggested the following improvements:
- Improved resolution, though he didn't seem that bothered by it
- better dynamic range (he did like that)
- more accurate colours
- better metering
- faster frame rate
- better weather sealing
- improved rear screen
- faster write speed to memory card
- 1080p video capability (which he wasn't bothered about, but it's there)

About the only thing he said that didn't feel was improved was the AF capability, which I have to say would make me think twice about it.
I also love my 5D, but having come from a 1D, sometimes feel a bit frustrated about the AF capability on the 5D. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but it's simply not as good as a 1 series and that leaves me wondering about a D700, which I see as a 5d with the AF it deserves.
