Hi all,

I have a Canon MV550i and a Sony HDR PJ240 ( see pics ) both in really good nick and hardly used but obviously not state-of-the-art. I'm not sure what to do with them. Any ideas?

Thanks all

If they have a USB output you might try to get them to work as a webcam for temporary use.
If you can get a feed to PC it could even livestream something like thunderstorm or other weather events.
We have a similar Hard Drive Sony I managed to get it to play direct in VLC so nearly there!
Probably not ideal to use for long periods as security cam or something

If you are not using the canon one you can sell it on, a lot of people have started converting their old mini DV taps to digital during the lockdown.

I sold an old Panasonic mini DV camcorder on eBay last year and it went for a ridiculous amount of money, 3 times what I thought it was worth. I fully expected problems but everything was fine.

I'm not sure what format my old tapes are but I'd be interested in buying or renting if you put them up for sale as I want to copy a few clips onto my pc..

they are great for that retro look :)
