Old Flashes

I have a couple of old lenses - A Miranda 650 OM and a Vivitar 102. Just wondering how safe it would be to use them off-camera with a Canon 500D. Cannot find any specs for either of online.

[Edit: of course - I meant flashes!]

I presume you mean flashes? I would certainly test the voltages before trying them, some old flashes literally use hundreds of watts as a trigger.
