Many thanks for accepting me to talkphotography. I may need a little help along the way, I have just bought a Nikon D700 and am fumbling my way around not having used a camera for around 12-14 years since owning a Nikon D7000 used for mainly my work in architectural glazing . My interest was re-kindled by watching you tube videos, SO where do i start, i only have the use of one arm/hand following a stroke and can't kneel down for low level pictures. The nikon d700 is in perfect condition with a shutter count of 79;000. I have just the one lens, Nikon f1.8D and would prefer something wit a little longer reach for taking street photograhy shots and feel a bit intimidated in someone's face with 50mm
Would like to aquire a Tokina 100mm ATX f2.8. i'd appreciate any comments

Hi Stewart and welcome to TP

I will let others who know Nikon and Tokina brands best comment on those aspects.

There are a few members here at TP that are physically challenged for different reasons and IIRC have found ways around them as appropriate.

So my thoughts can only be general.......

If you are using a camera ok, do I surmise that the stroke affected your left hand side?

Perhaps you could explain how you already overcome the loss of use of one hand & arm to control and use the camera? I especially ask that as putting a larger & heavier lens on the D700 could create an imbalance due to a different CoG (Centre of Gravity)......so understanding how you cope now might influence those who are able to offer advice.
