Old Sigma Lens AF on Canon DSLRs

Is there a definitive list of Sigma lenses that won't AF on Canon DSLRs?

I'm looking for a Sigma 24mm Super-Wide 2 2.8 for my 600D as I had one with my old Konica Minolts/Sony cameras and it was a cracker. The only thing is I see some advertised as not working with DSLRs, some saying they do and others saying nothing.

As I'm looking at everyone's favourite auction website I don't fancy playing lucky dip to see if I get a working one or not and as I often find them at last minute it isn't always practicle to wait for a response from the seller.

My guess is that it's a lens from the film days and it'd be a gamble...

but my main reason for posting is to ask you if you realise that 24mm will not be super wide on your 600D?

24 x 1.6 = 38 equiv FoV. Not too sexy IMVHO, although it may have the advantages of being compact, light, cheap and nice to use.

Yeah, it's not super wide, but then I don't need super wide, just something wider than the 50mm I've got.

Sigma upgraded the AF chips/firmware on these for a while, so on a lot of old sigma lenses you will find some do some don't depending on if they have been upgraded

Always going to be a gamble I am afraid

Hmmm. Back to the drawing board it seems unless I find one that is advertised as working on a DSLR.

It was so much easier on the A-Mount as it was just a mechanical drive in the lens, not a motor.

You can also give Sigma UK a call they are very helpful and will let you know if they have chips left for a particular lens, they used to fit them free not sure now if they charge or not, but I know they had very limited amounts left and none left for a fair few lenses. But always worth a call.
