old zooms - BAD :-( ... new zooms OK :-)

I've always been told that old zooms are pretty poor :thumbsdown:. The latest ones are quite good :thumbs:


but which time period did they start getting OK ?


It would help when I am choosing second hand lenses :D

I think he means REALLY old zooms, before there were nice fast ones. Im not sure though as most of the lenses that would be considered "bad" are older than myself.

yes ... I meant the old old ones ... like 50s 60s but also the not so old ones 70's 80's

what about the 90's ???

I'm ust after an idea of when technology for making zooms came up to date ???
 
oh ... and ANY make ... not just canon !

I have an OM to Canon adapter, so I would be interested to know :)
