Olympus E-M1 or E-M5 mk2 ?

If you were buying your Olympus m43 again - would you choose the E-M1 or the EM-5 mk2?
Assume the EM-5mk2 is £100 more than the E-M1.

I'll be using it with the 12-40mm f2.8, Panasonic 20mm, Oly 45mm and a telephoto. Probably Panasonic 100-300mm f5.6, might splash out on the 40-150mm f2.8 with TC if I sell more of my FF gear etc. If the EM-1 mk2 was available, I'd probably go for that.

I'll be buying new grey import (UK VAT paid ....) as it isn't much more than ebay 2nd hand prices.

All down to personal preferences on size and whether you want the phase detect AF points, it really is that simple - especially given the upcoming firmware updates which will make the EM1 like a new camera.
 
I bought the 5mkii over the EM1 following reports of more noise on long exposures over 30 seconds on the EM1.
I also prefer the body shape on the 5mkii but jury is still out on the screen as I prefer the screen on my EM10.
 
It really is a fine line.
For me it's compact size over AF. There's a 9mm height difference.

Those with the pro lenses probably don't care about size though. I have the compact lenses. At 1/3rd of the volume. Which makes a very different piece of kit.

Hmm, tough choice. I'm likely to have a mix of pro zooms and primes. In fact the E-M10 mk2 fits my needs too, especially as it has a built-in flash, like my D700. I find the built-in one very handy.

The EM5ii flash is one more reason to choose that camera. The flash is pocket tiny, and incredibly twisty. Much more useful than the fixed direction, built in ones.

BUT...

From memory, the EM5, 10, 5ii, 10ii have Sony sensors whereas the EM1 has a Panasonic sensor (to include the phase detect) which has different characteristics.

It is generally assumed that the cameras with Sony sensors all perform similarly in this respect as they are, to all intents and purposes, the same.
 
Just replaced a whole bunch of digital gear with mft Olympus system and went for the EM 5 MkII

Why?

It is newer machine and has bit of the EM 1 and a whole bunch of updates to the orginal EM 5

Weather proofing has been improved.

5 way stabilisation is FAB and works a treat.

Having said that i am tempted by a used EM1 simply because I like the look of it, but I more than pleased with the EM5 MkII
