About a year ago after a lot of reading & research I decided to bite the bullet and
invest in an Olympus Four Thirds System and I must say that regardless of the occasional
negative and often biased opinion, I have found that it has added an entirely new and exciting dimension to my images.
My entry into 4/3rds photography was by way of an E-520, followed soon thereafter with an E-3.
The essential difference between conventional cameras and the 4/3rds system
is the telecentric lens employed by the latter, through which light travels in parallel beams
and strikes the sensor at an angle of 90 degees instead of convergently. The result is significantly
greater colour depth and uniform sharpness from centre to the borders
.
Yesterday at 5:00AM it was minus three degrees Celsius as I reluctantly dragged myself from
a warm cosy bed to shoot a gathering of balloonists and aerobatic pilots do their stuff at the Wangaratta Aero Club.
This was how I spent day three as a new resident of the Rural City of Wangaratta, Victoria, - so how cool was that!
