Olympus Lenses Have No Focus Square

Afternoon all,

Just decided to go out and capture a few nice countryside images, only to encounter an issue that I could not work out how to resolve

I will admit right at the start, that i'm a new user of Olympus kit and the gear has not been out of the cupboard in a year

I had the 12-40 on the Olympus OM-1 mkII and could not get a focus square in the screen at all

Eventually thought i'd try the 7-14 lens and had exactly the same issue.

However, I also had my 40-150 with me, which immediatley gave me green square and was able to focus and take a few images

So, what am I doing wrong please? How can I rectify this issue with these lenses as it was a tad frustrating to come back with no wide angle shot at all

Something to check.

When I first got my 12-40 it would not focus.

Turned out the focus clutch was in the wrong position.

IIRC it has to be pushed forward.

Is the focus scale visible on the lens? If so what he said^^^ push the focus ring forward to engage the AF
