Olympus SP-590UZ - focus problem

My wife has an Olympus SP-590UZ - it's been working just great for the past three years or so, but has recently developed a focusing problem which causes it to sometimes focus on the wrong area, meaning that the main subject is blurred.

The dial on the top is set to 'Auto' (as it always is).

Any ideas please on a way to resolve this?
