Hi.

This is my first time on this Forum.

I am thinking about purchasing an Olympus EC-14 teleconverter for my Olympus E-500. Does anyone know if this is compatible with my camera and the 14-45mm and 40-150mm lenses that I hope to use with it?

Many thanks in anticipation!

According to the Olympus website they are but they will be slow lenses (you'll lose a stop of light). This will affect focussing in particular.

I think you'd be better off going for the 70-300mm. It would be faster and longer than your current set up and the image quality is pretty good. Also £70 cheaper than the EC-14 on www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk

I agree with vchaney. The 70-300 will provide greater reach than the 40-150 with TC while maintaining the lens speed (both the 70-300 and the newer 40-150 are f4-f5.6 while the older 40-150 is f3.5-f4.5).
I have the 70-300 mainly for travel; it's lighter then the 50-200 but it can struggle at the longer focal lengths once good light drops off. Slowing the 40-150 further could prove frustrating unless you are shooting on anything other than a bright summer day/using lights.
