Can you recomend a lens i might get for the camera, not wanting to spend much
to be jonest. Seen loads on ebay but dont know what to look for

It would help a bit if you told us what lenses you already have, and what you want to take pictures of.

You are in luck the lenses for your little E-420 are getting cheaper but unfortunately thats due to 4/3 being replaced by m4/3. I used to have an E-410 and then an E-620 which I liked.

As Stewart say what do you have and what do you want to do?
I geuss you have a 14-42 mm are want wider or longer?
What kind of money are you looking to spend?

Also consider buying from a dealer as you may get a limited warranty.
 
be careful not to buy micro four third lenses, they are not compatible with your camera

Yes any 4/3 mount lens should be fine but make sure you don't buy m4/3 (micro four thirds) as mentioned above.

The good news is that 4/3 lenses are extremely affordable because Olympus no longer produces new camera bodies for the format and most people have switched to m4/3.

The 40 to 150 for twenty quid I linked above is ideal then.
It's good little lens and will complement the E-420 nicely
